3C 2-PART WOOD REPAIR FAQ's
Yes, it's perfect! Quite often we get sent pictures of decayed or damaged timber frames etc. which are too big for a simple resin repair but on the otherhand it's extremely difficult (or even not possible) to completly replace the substrate. This is where a highly effective, old skool method of carpentry called splicing comes into effect. Basically a new piece of timber is added to the void by bedding it in and then backfilling (both with the resin) and shaping the area to make good again. With this in mind, 3C Wood Repair has fantastic bonding capabilities and makes it very useful as an adhesive for not just wood but also various plastics, brick, stone and even some metals. A useful complementary addition to this product when repairing/fixing/bonding timber is the Stabiliser/Primer which we sell separately.
In short no. As with all things wood related, it's normally water ingress that's the root of all problems leading to mould, decay and rot so the dryer the timber is, the more sound it is to make good. When making repairs it's just as important to ensure that your substrates are as dry as possible to allow for a good bite or bond from the resin to the surface of the void. Often, a meter is used to determine the level of moisture in the timber with a minimum amount being advised as preferable to begin work. A useful complementary addition to this product when repairing/fixing/bonding timber is the Stabiliser/Primer which we sell separately.
To assist you with the mix and subsequent application, the 2 x parts of Wood Repair extrude as: Part A= Greeny-Beige / Part B= Yellowy-Beige. When mixed properly, the final wet resin mix will be a distinctly even Light slightly Greeny Beige colour. When the application is fully dry (after a minimum of 8 x hours) this, in turn finishes to a slightly lighter almost transparent-looking, Greeny-Beige colour. To get a visual idea of these colours, please see the pictures on the Technical Datasheet (available to view/download above)
By separating the 2 components of our epoxy resin Wood Repair system into a pair of equally measured 300ml mastic sealant style cartridges, we've designed a product that's accessible for all types of users, from home user, DIY enthusiasts right up to structural engineers, this means that to extrude the material, either a single, standard skeleton gun or specialist double cartridge gun can be used. (We sell both to cover all bases) Or if you want to go all guns blazing on your job, even a 2-guns at the same time setup is possible (think,,, Yosemite Sam back in the day). Another useful, complementary addition to 3C Wood Repair when repairing/fixing/bonding timber is the Stabiliser/Primer which we sell separately.
